The last palace built by the Ottoman Empire in Istanbul, Yıldız Palace, has opened after a six-year restoration. Located within the borders of Beşiktaş today, Yıldız Palace is not designed as a single structure. Starting from the coast of the Sea of Marmara and rising northwest to the ridge, Yıldız Palace covers the entire slope with a large garden, grove, and palaces within.

Yıldız Palace also includes pavilions, administrative, protective, service buildings, and parks.

Who Built Yıldız Palace?

The first pavilion on the land where Yıldız Palace is located was built by Sultan Ahmed I. Later, many sultans built palaces in this area. At the end of the 18th century, Sultan Selim III built the Yıldız Pavilion for his mother Mihrişah Sultan and a fountain for his father. Sultan Abdülaziz built the Büyük Mabeyn Pavilion, Malta and Çadır Pavilions in the outer garden, and the Çit Pavilion in the main part.
