‘The Man Booker Prize’ is one of the most prestigious literary awards in the world, given every year since 1969.

The award, which was given primarily to works written in English by writers who were citizens of the British Commonwealth of Nations or the Republic of Ireland, later began to be given internationally as well.
The award is given to jury members who change every year.
This year’s winner of the Booker Prize was German author Jenny Erpenbeck.

Erpenbeck was awarded the Booker Prize for his novel Kairos. Erpenbeck also made history as the first German to win this award.
Michael Hofmann, who translated the book from German to English, became the first male translator to win this award.
According to Diken, the Booker prize of 50 thousand pounds will be shared between the two.
It is stated that Hofmann, who translated the book, ‘captured the eloquence and eccentricity of Erpenbeck’s writing, the rhythm of his inverted sentences, and the breadth of his emotional vocabulary’.
“It’s been 30 years since the country of my birth was destroyed, so I dared to look back and take the time to carefully research what I experienced without really realizing it.”
Booker Prize winner Erpenbeck included these statements in his statement. Erpenbeck, who was deemed worthy of the award with his fourth novel, also took his place in the award lists with his second and third books.
